微软官方博客宣布在MIT许可证下开源一组DirectX工具集和封装器。它们此前采用的是微软自己的开源许可证 MS-PL，托管在其开源网站CodePlex，如今更改许可证托管在Github上。MIT许可证是接受度更广的开源许可证，微软此前在Github上开源的项目也都采用MIT许可证。最新开源的软件包括了：DirectX Tool Kit，DirectXTex，DirectXMesh，UVAtlas，Effects 11，DXUT11，Sample Content Exporter等等。
